1934 AUSTIN 12/4 LOW LOADER TAXI
Reg. no. EXC 481

Chassis no. 81592
Engine no. 82095L

The Austin 12/4 taxicab used a modified Heavy 12/4 chassis clothed with new bodies designed by London\'s largest taxicab retailer and dealer Mann and Overton and made for them by London coachbuilders. From 1930 to 1934 this first Austin London taxicab was colloquially known as the High Lot or Upright Grand. On a new chassis and thereby much lowered its appearance was revised in 1934 and it was renamed by Austin the Low Loading taxi. Jones was one of several coachbuilders who became well-known for their bodies, and they were well-equipped with smart fittings. We are told that this Jones bodied Taxi has a sound body with very good upholstery. The paintwork is good but it could be improved. We are told that the taxi drives and stops well, although it does require the fitting of an accurate speedometer. The engine demonstrates good oil pressure with no \'nasty noises\'. New tyres have also been fitted to the front of the car. This Jones cab is offered here with a V5c.

£18,000 - 22,000
