1972 MORRIS MINOR VAN
Chassis No: MAE5.307529
Guide Price: £2500 - £3500

During the 1960s the AA’s motorcycle combinations were phased out in favour of vans, mostly Minivans, although other types were also used, including a fleet of around 100 Minor vans bought between 1968 and 1970. The British Motor Corporation (BMC), owners of Austin and Morris amongst others, decided in 1967 that the Morris Minor van should also be available as an Austin. For reasons now lost the AA favoured the Austin version, which apart from the badges, radiator grille and engine colour was identical to the Morris. AA Minors were fitted with the optional alternator instead of the standard dynamo to make sure they were able to cope with the extra electrical demands from the front spotlights, roof sign, flashing light and two-way radio. The rear number plate was roof-mounted to make way for the tow-bar. The rear number plate was roof-mounted to make way for the tow-bar.
This later 1972 Austin-badged model was comprehensively restored to period-correct AA specification by a former AA Patrolman, Geoff Townsend from the Midland area of the UK, who completed the work in 2004.
Now forming part of a Minor collection comprising a Saloon, a Tourer and a Traveller, and available for the first time in years, what a great ticket to gain access to some of the best classic car events in the country!
