1975 FORD GRANADA GHIA COUPE
Registration No: JLJ 130N
Chassis No: GAGCPR01817
Estimate: £14000 - £18000
- Restored over a 15 year period
- Presents in excellent order
The first generation model was produced from 1972 to 1976 at Ford’s German factory in Cologne and at its British factory in Dagenham. The March 1972 released Granada succeeded the British Ford Zephyr as Ford's European executive car offering. The car soon became popular with senior executives due to its considerable power output and great level of comfort. The initial range used the Ford Essex V4 unit in 2.0 litre displacement and the Essex V6 engine in 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre capacities. Due to the exceptional performance and road holding of these Fords, they were often first choice for criminals and the police.
Originally registered on 9th June 1975, this very rare Ford Granada Ghia Coupé has been part of a 15 year restoration project and as such, presents in very good order throughout. The bronze coachwork is a great colour of the period and the diamond stitched black leather trim, whilst not standard fitment, has been done tastefully and is in keeping with the rest of the car. Open the bonnet and it is blatantly apparent the amount of work that has gone into restoring this Granada. Crank the key and the familiar roar of a 3.0 litre Essex engine is a gentle reminder of what a superb car this was, taking into account it is 44 years old. Supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 21st November 2019, this Ford is certainly evocative for men of a certain age.
