1995 AF SPORTS TWO-SEATER 2.0 Litre
Colour: Blue
Registration No: Q356 HRY
Chassis No: 800140
Engine No: 211699
Estimate: £7,000 - £10,000

Founded in Earlsdon, Coventry in 1987, Auto-Forge Automobiles produced a high-quality replica of the pre-war Squire sportscar available as a two- or four-seater with an aluminium tub, GRP wings and a sturdy spaceframe chassis with a central backbone and Ford running gear. Called the AF Sports, only around 40 were sold before production ground to a halt in 1999, although the AF name was briefly revived from 2003 to 2005. A pity, because the cars were excellent and one is even on display at the Coventry Transport Museum.
This particular AF Sports Two-Seater was professionally built for the vendor between 1989 and 1995 with a Ford Pinto 1,993cc engine, RS2000 cylinder head, Ford 5-speed gearbox, back axle and rear suspension and Triumph front suspension with disc brakes. Other equipment includes a side-exit stainless steel exhaust with a tubular manifold, MicroDynamics electronic ignition and rev limiter, Jaguar instruments, leather seats with Willans harnesses, Moto-Lita steering wheel, map reading light, five wire wheels, additional front driving lamps and a battery isolator switch. A canvas hood and tonneau cover are also present, both virtually unused and in excellent condition.
Since the build was completed the car has only covered some 15,700 fine weather miles, including track days at Castle Combe, Mallory Park and Donington, various classic tours and it also came 1st in Class and 4th overall at the 1996 Motor City Parade in Coventry. Stored in a heated Carcoon when not in use (which is available to the winning bidder by separate negotiation if desired), it remains in very good order throughout, the only fault noted by the vendor concerning the fuel gauge which can be erratic at times.
It comes with a large history file including many invoices to document the build, the original AF sales brochures and build manuals, V5C, MOT valid until January 2019 with no advisories recorded plus many old MOTs.
With excellent performance, a notably stiff chassis and convincing pre-war looks, this beautifully-built sportscar is ideal for fast road or track day use and is only reluctantly for sale by its long-term owner due to an impending house move and consequent loss of storage.
