Jaguar returned to the large luxury saloon car market in 1961 with the stately Mark X saloon, which in turn re-emerged as the 420G at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1966. With the all-important North American market in mind, the cars were lavishly equipped and provided occupants a sumptuous environment of deep-pleated leather, thick pile carpet, and highly-polished veneers. The 420G's real role, however, was to whisk senior executives in silent efficiency from the airport to the boardroom and this it did with aplomb.
This is one of the very last Jaguar 420Gs to be built, and is in Opalescent Dark Grey over Golden Sand, with Tan Leather interior. The car was only used between 1970 and 1979, DVLA records show that it has not been taxed since July 1979. We are told that the car has been dry stored ever since and that the recorded mileage is correct. The car is said to be totally rust free and was undergoing re-commissioning when the owner died. The car runs very well and is in very good condition, but needs a few small jobs doing to get the car completed. It is said that all the parts needed to finish the re-commissioning are present including the original toolbox. There is a fair amount of history that the vendor is hoping will come with the car, but it is currently in probate so can't be guaranteed.
Jaguar MK 10s and 420Gs are now quite sought after and good ones are very scarce. This very late car with an unusual backstory represents very good value for money
