FRIDAY 26th OCTOBER 2018
1959 FORD THAMES 400E
Registration No: WAB 698
Chassis No: 400E13102
Estimate: £5900 - £6500
This Ford Thames was purchased by the vendor 5 years ago as a complete restoration project. It has now been completely restored including newly constructed wood body faithfully copied from the original. Registered in January 1959 the van was built in 1958 making it a rare early survivor.
Prior to the vendor’s ownership there were only 3 registered keepers, the first for 30 years and the second and third were a father and his son who inherited it. Due to such low ownership it is believed the mileage of 63,000 could be correct however there is no history with the vehicle to back it up. There is paperwork from the DVLA showing all the previous registered keepers and the dates they acquired the truck.
The vendor tells us it does need a few finishing jobs to be done and a few parts to be obtained, he recently fitted a new petrol tank sender unit however the gauge still doesn’t work so it is believed the gauge itself is at fault. It could do with some steering joints/ rubbers to be replaced, door rubbers/ draught excluders need to be fitted. Recently fitted new front shock absorbers.
