1954 SEDDON Mk VII
Chassis number 11043
This canvas-roofed and very rare survivor was originally registered as SKR89 on May 6th, 1954 in Kent, it bears the livery of "Lowrie Brothers" and has been in storage for many years, the vendor informs us that the Perkins Diesel engine runs. Seddon was formed in Salford, Manchester in 1938 as Foster & Seddon Ltd. The first truck was built with a Perkins P6 engine, this proved popular but production was limited by the cramped factory so they moved to Oldham, Lancashire and opened their Woodstock factory in 1948. The company name was changed to Seddon Diesel Vehicles Ltd in 1951 when the MK 7 a 3-ton capacity lorry was introduced with a Perkins P4 engine. Of note on the Mark 7 are the rear-hinged doors which could fly open in an accident and launch the driver from the cab.
