Produced by Edward Thomas & Co in Oswestry, Shropshire, the quirky Brott started a brief fad of flail mowers for domestic use.
Using a drum with flailing chains, the system was robust and didn’t require sharpening. They could leave a good finish too, the whirring rotors creating quite a draft which blew the clippings over the rear of the machine and into a bag if so required.
Purchased by the vendor some years ago, it has been restored and fitted with a reliable Honda engine, although the original Briggs & Stratton is included in the sale.
Offered at no reserve, it will provide more laughs than many of the items on offer today, and get the lawn done at the same time…they call that a win-win.
