This Allegro Vanden Plas Princess was originally supplied by Victoria Garage (Weston-Super-Mare) Ltd. First registered in the Somerset town, the ‘Princess’ was sold to a Mr C Franks of Plumstead, London. The motor car left the Longbridge factory with an automatic gearbox; this was later professionally converted to a manual five speed, which had previously been overhauled prior to its installation in 1988.
In 2015, the Austin was fully resprayed and was fitted with a new headlining. The original olive leather upholstery remains in very good condition and we are informed that the exhaust system is stainless steel and that the motor car benefits from electronic ignition and a CD player. The front brake discs and pads have recently been replaced. The vendor assures us that the mechanics are in good order, with no known faults; he uses the ‘Princess’ regularly and participates in classic car shows.
The large history file contains a factory workshop manual, sales brochures, the original handbook and wallet, a quantity of invoices, the original sales invoice, the V5C registration certificate and old MOT test certificates.
