1971 VOLKSWAGEN BEACH BUGGY
by KOMBAT
Registration No: WKT 464J
Chassis No: 11122898864
or Beach Buggies built on the chassis of an existing vehicle, the Volkswagen Beetle was commonly used as the basis for the buggy. The Beetle platform was used because the rear engine layout improves traction, the air-cooled engine avoids the complexities and failure points associated with a water-cooled engines. The front suspension was considered cheap and robust and the spare parts from Volkswagen were cheap and readily available. Beach Buggies with glass-reinforced plastic (fiberglass) bodies come in many shapes and sizes. The original fiberglass Beach Buggy was the 1964 ‘Meyers Manx’ built by Bruce Meyers. Many other companies worldwide have copied the original fiberglass Beach Buggy.
This Beach Buggy is based on a 1300 Beetle that was originally registered on 4th January 1971 and was converted into its current format by Kombat. We are advised by the vendor that she runs well and is great fun to drive. The engine starts ‘on the button’ and the gearbox operates smoothly and correctly. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 22nd May 2019 this Beach Buggy is offered for sale without reserve.
