1965 FORD ZODIAC
Chassis No: BA64EU06112
Registration No: CKL 396C

In 1956 the Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac were all restyled. The 6-cylinder cars' engines were enlarged to 2,553 cc with power output raised to 86 bhp. The wheelbase and width was increased, and the weight distribution and turning circle were also improved. Top speed was now 88 mph.The Zodiac and Zephyr were also offered in two body styles these being the "Highline" and "Lowline", depending on the year of manufacture, the difference being 1.75 in being cut from the height of the roof panel. The "Highline" had an hemispherical instrument cluster, whereas the "Lowline" had a more rectangular panel.

As well as a 3-speed manual gearbox there was an optional overdrive and from 1956 , and a Borg Warner DG automatic transmission. At first drum brakes were fitted all round, but front discs became optional in 1960 and standard from mid-1961. A two-door convertible version was offered with power-operated hood. Because of the structural weaknesses inherent in the construction of convertibles, few convertibles are known to survive.

This 1965 Ford Zodiac is presented in red with black interior. The bodywork is in good condition but there are some scratches and areas of paint that would benefit from some attention. The interior is in moderate condition, with the front carpet and some small bits of trim missing. The car starts and drives well, with the automatic gearbox funcioning as it should.

In preparation for the sale the car has had new tyres fitted, new HT leads, electronic ignition, new gearbox oil, new engine oil, and two new jacking points at a total cost of over £1,600. With a little TLC this could be a very nice example of this model that is becoming ever more rare.
