The 4/44 of 1953 was very similar to the MG Magnette ZA, but was powered by the XPAG 1250cc engine. Equipped with all the refinements expected of the marque defined the Wolseley 4/44 and a relatively high price tag meant that the model was certainly not aimed at the economy end of the market. After just three years of production, the 4/44 was succeeded by the 15/50. The vendor of this 1955 example describes the stylish motor car as being in good condition throughout. We understand that the bodywork and panel fit are in very good order, indicating that the Wolseley has been well cared for throughout its life. The model had a reputation for issues with rust, so prospective purchasers will be relieved to read that the underside of 292 UYJ appears to be sound and solid! The red leather upholstery appears to be original and we understand that the carpets are replacements and good. The temperature gauge and clock are presently not working. Mechanically, it is understood that there are no known faults. All in all, a nice, honest family classic, with the added benefit of a roof to cope with the inclement British weather!
A V5C accompanies the 4/44; there is an extensive history with the motor car but at the time of writing, it has unfortunately been mislaid.
