Indian's first v-twin appeared in 1907 with an engine clearly derived from that of the existing single-cylinder model, though mechanical inlet valves - introduced for 1908 - were an early improvement. The twin's rear cylinder continued to form part of the frame until 1909 when a loop frame of the type favoured by rivals Harley-Davidson was adopted. The Springfield company's first 7hp 'Big Twin' debuted that same year displacing 60.32ci (988cc) and was up-dated for 1913 with Indian's innovative, leaf-sprung, swinging-arm frame.

Dating from 1915, this Indian motorcycle combination was discovered lying derelict in a barn and purchased in 1966 from the farmer, a Mr Philips. Over the next 51 years it was restored by the late owner and only completed in 2017. The machine is fitted with a replica fuel tank in brass, while the sidecar body is an exact copy of the rotten original and uses the original doors and rescued fittings. The original fuel tank and remains of the original sidecar are available. A copy of the owner's article about the Indian, published in the VMCC magazine in February 1907, is on file and the machine also comes with an old-style continuation logbook, old/current V5/V5C documents, and some 'Indian' transfers.

  • BMW returned to six-cylinder power for its top-of-the-range models in 1968 with the launch of the 2500 and 2800 saloons together with the stylish 2800CS coupé. Designated 'E9', the latter was powered by the 2800 saloon's M30 engine, though its running gear had more in common with the existing, four-cylinder 2000C/CS. The 2800CS's replacement by the similarly styled 3.0-litre CS in 1971 brought with it numerous improvements, including four-wheel disc brakes in place of the old disc/drum combination. With 180bhp on tap courtesy of its larger engine, the 3.0CS was good for in excess of 130mph, Today these exciting and charismatic German Grand Tourers enjoy an enthusiastic following, and well preserved examples are increasingly sought after.

This right-hand drive automatic-transmission 3.0 CSA was purchased in 1999. Two previous owners are identified on accompanying documents, and the car also comes with a workshop manual, parts catalogue, price lists, and sundry invoices for work carried out. Suffering from corrosion inside the engine bay, although the body presents well, the car is offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed. A manual gearbox and various other parts are included in the sale.
