  • Significant Bowler upgrades
  • A Defender with a difference
The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin.
This Land Rover Defender 90 Hardtop was originally registered on 31st March 2014 and has been subject to a number of modifications by marque specialist Bowler in Derbyshire, a quick look at their website confirms how well they know these 4 x4s and the quality of their workmanship. This particular example has been treated to the Bowler fast road package including; Bilstein suspension, 18” wheels with BF Goodrich tyres, protection package, Recaro seats, Bowler gear selector, brake upgrade front and rear and Bowler stage two engine upgrade. The result is a Defender that looks superb and drives exceedingly well. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this Land Rover certainly stands out from the crowd.
