 1986 CHEVROLET DAY VAN
Registration No: C292 ADL
Chassis No.: 2GBEG25M5G4126106
Engine size: 5,700 cc
Engine No: not known
Estimate: £3,500 - £4,500
This Chevrolet Day Van first saw the light of day back in January 1986. It was bought by an RAF man stationed in Canada who brought it back to the UK with him in 2017. He had enjoyed owning the van in Canada but, finding he was not using it much in this country, sold it later that year.
Our vendor bought this mighty Chevrolet G20 (5,700cc V8) and took his family of five on a trip to the Alps (the Chevrolet being one of the few vehicles that could drive through the Alps as easily as over them).
Prior to the trip, the vendor had new whitewall tyres fitted, but in a subtle form of customisation, had the whitewalls fitted facing inwards! The van also had a brake rebuild (the Alps go downhill as well as uphill), a full service, and the tow-bar uprated to UK-spec for the MOT. The lights are also to UK specifications.
The van is, of course, left-hand drive. The vendor reports that it starts first time and runs well - as it should, with only 131,757 miles behind it. The interior is oh-so-Eighties crushed salmon velour with swivelling captains seats (although we are assured no salmon were injured in the construction of this vehicle, we don’t know about the captains). Since the pictures were taken the van has had a side window replaced with clear plastic one
