1965 MERCEDES BENZ 220SE COUPE
Registration No: CYN 215C
Chassis No: 11102122072859
Production of the W111 began in late 1960, with the coupe making its debut in February of the next year. The convertible followed at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few months later. Almost identical to the coupe, its soft-top roof folded into a recess behind the rear seat and was covered by a tightly fitting leather boot in the same colour as the seats. The 220SE designation was used for both the coupe and convertible, and both had the same version of the 2195 cc M127 engine. Options included a sliding sunroof for the coupe, automatic transmission, power steering, and individual rear seats.
This 1965 Mercedes 220 SE Coupe is presented in the very attractive colour combination of Metallic Beige coachwork with black roof and beige leather interior. It has had just two previous owners from new, and comes with a very extensive service file. The car comes with its original sales invoice when it was sold new by Normand in Mayfair in January 1965, showing that it retains its original colour combination.
It benefits from automatic transmission and power steering making it very usable and enjoyable to drive. The service file also has many invoices including previous engine rebuild and restoration details, as well as lots of old MOT certificates going back many years.
