1956 STEYR 80A 15hp TRACTOR/MOWER
From the country that gave the world Arnold Schwarzenegger, here is the Steyr 80A single-cylinder, 2-wd, 15hp tractor. This 1956 model is nine years younger than Arnie and – in our opinion – in much better condition.
This 80A has a full history of its 34 years in Austria, detailing its three owners and the work it did. On retirement it was restored in Austria before being shipped to Scotland, in 1990 (more details on file). In 1993, the Steyr made the trip south, to sunny Shropshire, to take pride of place at a new Steyr dealership (they still make tractors, but not like this one).
The 80A made guest appearances at various shows to help promote the brand. It was then sold to our vendor who has owned it for a number of years, but now needs to make space for other projects. The front tyres are new, the rears have lots of life still, and the vendor reports that the single-cylinder engine runs well, and the whole tractor is generally in cracking condition and small enough to fit on most car trailers
This Steyr is a fabulous old thing and, if not over-burdened with power (15hp @ 1,57rpm), it is an ideal accessory for the man with the larger lawn (complete with unused side-mounted mower). Fergies are common, Farmalls are so last year, and nobody, but nobody, would be seen dead with an Allis Chalmers: if you want something a little different – and a lot of fun – this Steyr 80A is a must.
Supplied with manuals, correspondence and invoices.
