Engine Number: 1342

CC: 3200
Year of Manufacture: 1985
  • One of just 629 Mondial QV Cabriolets produced
  • Supplied new in California and spent its life there and in Florida
  • Finished in Rosso Corsa with a Nero interior
  • Showing 37,500 miles confirmed by US ‘Smog test' certificates
  • Supplied with an MOT until 1st August '18 and a UK V5c

The Mondial saw Ferrari return to Pininfarina as its choice of styling house, and it was sold as a mid-sized Coupé and, eventually, a Cabriolet. Conceived as a 'more usable' model, offering the practicality of four seats with the performance of a mid-range Ferrari and hopefully attracting a slightly wider audience than their traditionally more focused two-seaters. The car's body was not built as a monocoque in the same way as a conventional car but instead, the steel outer body was produced by the famous Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Scaglietti, just down the road in nearby Modena and clothed a lightweight steel box-section space frame. The Mondial was the first Ferrari where the entire engine/gearbox/rear suspension assembly was mounted on a detachable steel sub-frame, making engine removal for a major rebuild or cylinder head removal much easier than it had been on earlier models.

Offered here is a left-hand drive, 1985 Ferrari Mondial Quattrovalvole Cabriolet, one of just 629 produced, delivered new in California where it has spent most of its life. Finished in Rosso Corsa with a Nero interior, the indicated mileage on the odometer of 37,585 miles appears to be correct and is supported by a host of US ‘Smog' test certificates.
Imported to the UK by our vendor last year, the car is now UK-registered with taxes fully paid and a V5c granted. Since arriving in the country, our vendor has commissioned a full service including a new cambelt, clutch plates, master cylinder, refurbished flywheel and four new TRX tyres. The car has been MOT tested until the 1st August and is supplied with its US-history along with bills for recent work undertaken. A genuine four-seater this smart looking Mondial is the perfect entry into affordable Ferrari ownership.
