1977 ALVIS FOX ARMOURED CAR FV721
Registration Number: YNF 518S
Chassis Number: 11FD19
Estimate: £17000 - £19000
In use with the British Army from 1975 to 1994, the Alvis Fox is powered, as you are probably already aware, by a Jaguar 4.2 litre XK-type engine.
Performance, however, is not in the XK league, due in no small part to the vehicle weighing 6.75 tons. It does, however, have four-wheel-drive and can pass through a metre of water unhindered and will command some serious respect in the supermarket car park or on the school run. The 30mm cannon on this example is for show only. Sadly.
This particular example has been in private ownership for some years. It was brought out of storage late last year and given a good service and is now in good running and driving condition. It does not have a current MOT, although that omission could probably be rectified with a few Sunday morning tinkerings – and we suspect that it will shortly be MOT exempt anyway. Certainly beats washing the Qashqai.
