1959 ARIEL 350cc RED HUNTER
Frame Number: CAPR13515
Registration Number: 861 XUG
By 1930, Ariel's Val Page-designed singles had gained a rear-mounted magneto and their distinctive timing cover, and the basic engine design, although frequently revised, would last well into the post-war era. The sports versions were christened 'Red Hunter' and under Page's successor Edward Turner, developed into fast and stylish machines. In 1946 the Hunters became the first models to feature Ariel's new telescopic front fork, and the following year could be ordered with the optional Anstey Link plunger rear suspension. In 1956 full-width alloy hubs were adopted across the range, and the Red Hunters continued in this form until production of Ariel four-strokes ceased in 1959.
Dating from the final year of production, this 350 Red Hunter appears to be largely original and has been used very little of late. Sitting proudly on its original Dunlop wheel rims and still sporting the original Smiths chronometric speedometer, this Ariel oozes charm and charisma. The vendor has a small but impressive collection of motorcycles and is now running out of space; hence the reason why this handsome machine is offered for sale. Supplied with a registration document and a full year’s MoT test certificate, this Ariel Red Hunter is offered for sale without reserve.
