1956 FORD FAIRLANE TOWN SEDAN THUNDERBIRD
The Ford Fairlane was sold between 1955 and 1970 by Ford in North America. The the 1955 model year Fairlane replaced the Crestline as Ford's premier full-sized offering. Six different body styles were offered, including the Crown Victoria Skyliner with a tinted, transparent plastic roof, the Crown Victoria Coupe with lots of stainless steel trim, a convertible Sunliner, the Victoria hardtop coupe, and traditional saloons. All featured the trademark stainless steel Fairlane stripe on the side. Power options were a 3.7 Litre straight-6 engine and a 4.5 Litre V8. The 4.8 Litre Y-block was offered as an option and was called the Thunderbird V-8.
Few changes were made for 1956; a four-door Victoria hardtop and two new, more powerful V8 options, of 4.8 Litres and 5.1 litres were introduced. The Lifeguard safety package was introduced. The two-door Victoria hardtop featured a new and slimmer roofline. A one-year only two-door station wagon, the 1956 Ford Parklane, featured Fairlane-level trim.
This 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan with the Thunderbird V8 Option was imported from the USA in January 2017. It is described by the vendor as being a very good example of this rare option car. The car is UK registered and has had over £3,000 spent on re-chroming, new whitewall tyres and a new exhaust. The desirable Y-block V8 runs very well and the car is said to drive without fault. There are some invoices with the car and some handbooks. Altogether this is a a very sound car with good paintwork, good mechanicals, and with a very desirable specification.
Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
GUIDE PRICE: £13,000 TO £16,000
