BARONS AUCTIONS
ANNUAL CLASSIC CHRISTMAS SALE
SANDOWN PARK, ESHER,
TUESDAY 12th DECEMBER 2017

1987 PORSCHE 944S
Chassis No - WPOZZZ94ZHN400498

Porsche introduced the 944 in 1982. The factory-claimed 0-60 mph time of fewer than 9 seconds and top speed of 130 mph was pessimistic, Autocar having verified a top speed of 137 mph, and a 0-60 time 8.3 seconds. The car had nearly even front to rear weight distribution (50.7% front/49.3% rear) thanks to the rear transaxle balancing out the engine.
In mid-1985, the 944 underwent its first significant changes. These included a new dash and door panels, embedded radio aerial, upgraded alternator, increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats. For 1988 the 944 Motronic DME was updated, and newly incorporated anti-lock braking and airbags. In early 1989 before the release of the 944S2, Porsche upgraded the 944 from the 2.5 to a 2.7 L engine, with a rated 162 hp, and a significant increase in torque. In addition to the increase in displacement, the new motor featured a siamese-cylinder block design and a different cylinder head which incorporated larger valves. The car was phased out in 1979.

The Porsche 944S offered here has the original book back including user manual and service record with a full book of stamps. The car has been fully serviced and had all mechanical parts replaced that needed attention, very recently and is described by the vendor as a car that drives brilliantly. The bodywork is in fantastic condition and the interior is equally as great. The spare key is present. The vehicle has had 13 previous owners and it is HPI clear. It has just passed MOT with no advisory items.
