1972 FIAT ABARTH 595 ESSE ESSE RECREATION

The Italian performance and racing car company was founded by Austrian-Italian Carlo Abarth and Italian Armando Scagliarini in Turin in 1949. Abarth adopted his Scorpio birth sign as the company logo; they were later known for producing various tuning kits for road vehicles, mainly for Fiat. Mechanically, the Abarth 595 was a vastly improved car over the standard Fiat 500 with special pistons, valves, a high-lift camshaft and large downdraft Solex or Weber carburettors. The power output increased from 22bhp at 4400rpm to 32bhp at 6000rpm. The suspension was stiffened and lowered and the coachwork adorned with Abarth badges inside and out. Today, genuine Abarth motorcars and performance parts are sought after by collectors worldwide.

This lovely Fiat started life as a standard 500 in 1972, however, prior to import into the UK, the little car was modified into an Abarth 595 EsseEsse style recreation and incorporated many similar features of the original cars. Since being the UK registered on 1st February 2016, further enhancements and Abarth detailing have been carried out by the well-respected replica specialists, Total Headturners, and include an extensive rebuild of the Fiat 126 650cc power unit; full details of these works and, in particular, the engine works are filed. This example is in excellent condition and is presented in the classic Abarth colours of white with red Abarth decals and badges. The following detailing includes, an Abarth open engine cover conversion, heat wrapped sports exhaust, a single downdraft Weber carburettor, Abarth engine sump, cam cover, wood-rimmed steering wheel and gear knob. The interior is trimmed in black with red diamond stitched headlining and is complemented by the Veglia odometer, rev. counter and Abarth auxiliary gauges. We are advised that this lovely example will arrive at the sale with an MoT test certificate, valid until October 2018, its UK registration document and associated file and invoices for works and parts. We believe that this 595 is presented with a realistic estimate and is one of the better examples on offer today.
