The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato was introduced in October 1960 at the London Motor Show. It was effectively a DB4 GT re-bodied by the Zagato Factory in Italy to the design of the mercurial young talent, Ercole Spada. Spada transformed the DB4 GT into a smaller, more aerodynamic, super-lightweight car; many steel components were replaced by aluminum, helping to shave many kilos off the weight of the original DB4 GT. All non-essential elements (such and bumpers) disappeared. With the help of handcrafted Perspex and aluminum components, more than 100lbs was shed from the original DB4 GT. Initially, the Zagato factory had plans to produce 25 cars, but surprising demand in the period wasn’t as strong as expected and production ceased and the 20th unit. Nowadays, due to the rarity and popularity of the DB4 GT Zagato, the cars are now among the most valuable sports cars of all, world-class blue chip investments and rarely, if ever, come onto the open market.
The team at the highly regarded Evanta Motor Company based in Hertfordshire, England have hand-assembled one of the finest cars available today. Using a handmade tubular chassis, Evanta has created a spectacular homage to the legendary DB4 GT Zagato. The car is fitted with the LS3 6.0 V8 engine, producing 430hp, making it more powerful than the original Zagatos, mated to a manual gearbox this make the car not only a joy to look at but a joy to drive.
The vendor informs us that this chassis number 003 car is one of only 25 Evanta built on license making it a truly collectible car. The tan interior matched with the iconic racing green colours are reminiscent of the original ‘1 VEV’ car.
The extraordinary blend where old meets new can only be perceived as a stroke of genius, the result, a classic Gran Turismo that can be used on a daily basis.
This rare, elegant yet powerful car represents true value for money with original DBG4 GT Zagatos making well over £10 million, and Sanction II car worth £1 million plus.
