The Saab 900 was originally introduced in May 1978 and, like its predecessor the 99, the 900 contained a number of unusual design features that distinguish it from most other cars. The engine was installed 'backwards', with power delivered from the crank at the front of the car. Second, the transmission, bolted directly to the bottom of the engine to form the oil pan, thus, power from the crank would be delivered out of the engine at the front, then transferred down and back to the transmission below. Refined over several decades of two-digit Saab models, the 900's double wishbone suspension design provided excellent handling and road feel. The 900 also utilised a deeply curved front windshield, providing the best driver visibility, calling attention to the marque's aircraft legacy. Also underscoring their aircraft lineage, the 900's dashboard was curved to enable easy reach of all controls and featured gauges lit up from the front. Saab engineers placed all controls and gauges in the dashboard according to their frequency of use and/or importance, so that the driver need only divert his gaze from the road for the shortest possible time and by the smallest angle.

Abbott Racing are leading specialists in Saab tuning and performance. Following the great success of the racing team, Saab enthusiasts began approaching Abbott Saab to see if they would service their cars and since 1986, with unique knowledge of the Saab Marque they were entrusted by the Saab Factory to race their products. Even to this day have direct access to the Saab parts warehouse in the UK and Sweden.

This Saab 900 S Turbo Convertible has an Abbotts racing 'T7' conversion and is, as such, a very desirable example of the 900 Turbo in very good condition. The service book contains 15 entries (both stamped and handwritten) to 49,991 miles in 2009 and several service and repair invoices are on file for the period 2010 - 2016. With its iconic design, this solid example is fitted with a new hood and is offered with an MoT test certificate until May 2018. A future classic in the making and, at no reserve, a very attractive proposition.
