1973 FIAT 128 COUPE

The Fiat 128 Coupè is a sports car built by the Turin house between 1971 and 1978. Between the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies, coupès derived from small and medium-sized sedans. Fiat had achieved a remarkable sales success with the “850 Coupé”, but was now in difficulty without having a valid sports model to propose an economic alternative to the expensive “124 Sports Coupé”, “Giulia GT” and “Fulvia Coupé” which, in those years, represented excellence in the market.
Although derived from the “128 saloons”, it has to be said that Fiat’s designers have made such a structural shift in the new coupé that it is difficult to find contact points between the two cars. Beginning from the floor, the step of which is reduced by 22 cm and equipped with a peripheral frame, to tighten the structure and improve weight distribution. The great attention to road holding is thanks to the sports suspension, completely redesigned for this model.
Two engines were offered for the model: the 1,166cc with 64bhp used also for the sedan version, or the 1,290cc, which was achieved by simply increased bore, which develops 75bhp. The bodywork is quite square, as they imposed the stylistic canons of the time, with a rise to the very elegant rear.
The two model classes in which the car was available to differ from slightly in outward appearance, especially in the type of wheels and in headlight configuration, with two rectangular headlights for the “S” (Sport) and four light headlights for the “SL” ( Luxury Sport). The interior of the “SL” is more refined, with softer adjustable seats, padded steering wheel, a central tunnel with storage compartment and full electronic counterbalance instrument and water thermometer.
The car that we have for sale today is a 128 Coupè SL, the most desirable version. Finished in green, this car transports the driver into the atmosphere of the 1970’s. This car comes to the sale with its Italian papers and is ready to be driven.

1939 CHRYSLER PLYMOUTH P8 DELUXE CONVERTIBLE

Walter Chrysler started his career repairing railway locomotives and worked his way up the ladder. While ascending those steep rungs, he learned a thing or two about managing people and saving ailing companies. After many successes, he was brought in to address the problems at Maxwell-Chalmers, which would become the foundation of the Chrysler Corporation. Although Chrysler was only established in 1925, by the following year, the young company was fifth in auto sales. In 1928, Chrysler acquired Dodge Brothers and for the 1929 Model Year, it had two new marques on the market: DeSoto and Plymouth.
The Plymouth was an inexpensive and reliable four-cylinder car that had features unheard of in a low-priced car: four-wheel hydraulic brakes and full-pressure lubrication. Priced from $670 to $725, 66,000 Plymouths were built from June 1928 until February 1929. Chrysler’s timing was perfect and Plymouth was firmly established by the time of the stock market crash in October 1929.
By the time that the Plymouth Deluxe, Model P8 came out for 1939, many nameplates had fallen to the Great Depression. But the Chrysler Corporation was solvent and Plymouth was the nameplate that helped keep the ink black. Although the Model P8 was the only Plymouth to make do with a two-year-old body, a carefully-executed makeover ensured that few people noticed.

For as little as $725, a buyer could take delivery of a handsome, moderately-sized car powered by an 82 horsepower straight-six engine. Those brakes were still hydraulically-operated and front suspension was independent.
Less than 6000 Plymouth P8 convertibles were manufactured and of the remaining cars, this
1939 Detroit car is definitely amongst the very best of them. This historic US pre-war Plymouth has been comprehensively restored and is in show condition throughout. A Classic Data expert inspection report from 2015 bares testament to this, the car indeed received a clear note 1 in all respects. Coming to Coys from a collection of concourse automobiles and is offered with German historic registration documents and TÜV until 07/2019. This is without any doubt an exceptional car and as such not to be missed and unrepeatable.

1969 JAGUAR MkII 240
Manual Overdrive
Registration No PHO 458G
Chassis No 1J3987DN
Engine No YJ-4789-8
Estimate £14,000 - £16,000

One of the greatest saloon cars of all time, the compact Jaguar MkII was launched to huge acclaim in 1959.
The top-of-the-range 3.8-litre model had a stunning performance from its 220bhp straight-six engine and could embarrass most sports cars of the day, leaving them trailing in its 125mph wake. Keeping everything under control were servo-assisted disc brakes all round, coil-and-wishbone independent front suspension and a leaf-sprung Salisbury rear axle with optional limited slip diff. Inside was beautifully trimmed in walnut and leather in the finest Jaguar tradition.
A huge success on road and track, the MkII was quick to dominate contemporary saloon car racing in the hands of drivers like Stirling Moss and Roy Salvadori. The entry-level model was the 2.4-litre which was virtually identical in every way to the 3.8 apart from the smaller engine.

Although the 2.4 is often unkindly thought of as being a trifle underpowered, in reality, it performed well for the period being capable of a genuine 100mph and was only shown up against its brawnier 3.4 and 3.8 siblings – although some would argue that the lighter engine gave it better handling.

First registered in January 1969, this dark blue example is a late 240 model which had slimline bumpers and an Ambla, rather than leather, interior in order to cut costs (although this particular car actually has leather seats). Making up for these economies was a new straight port head, new inlet manifold and new HS6 SU carbs which raised the power of the 2.4-litre engine from 120bhp to 133bhp with more torque to boot.
As you can see the car is in very smart condition throughout following a major refurbishment in 2013 which included a full body restoration, rebuilt engine and overdrive gearbox, plus much other work detailed in many invoices and photos on file. Since the restoration was completed it has covered less than 5,000 miles and is said to drive as well as it looks.
Due to have a fresh MOT in time for the sale, it comes with a large history file and looks great value at the sensible guide price suggested.
