1980 AUSTIN MINI 1275 GT
A 1980 Austin Mini 1275 GT, registration number HVN 15W, blue. New for 1969 the Roy Haynes restyled Mini Clubman and 1275 GT would remain in production until 1980. The 1275 GT was to be the replacement for the Cooper & Cooper S which ceased production in 1971. This example has been rebuilt to a very high standard by MG Edgell, a well known historic Mini enthusiast and racer. During the restoration the Mini was stripped to a bare shell and new Heritage body panels comprising bonnet, front floor pan, door skins and inner and outer door sills were fitted before a full respray was carried out. Further noteworthy works undertaken included a new windscreen, door rubbers and window seals, refurbished or new rear subframe, rear radius arms, rear brake drums, shoes and cylinders, handbrake linkages and cables, front brake discs and calipers, carpets, wheels, tyres, battery, and 1380cc Swiftune (fast road) engine, fitted with three branch manifold and Mini Sport exhaust system, plus numerous other consumables. Now described by the vendor as being as good as what can be seen on top, and having a great turn of speed with a fast road engine. The 1275 GT has become very collectable in recent years, and this example must be one of the best for sale on the current market. V5C, MOT to April 2018
