From 1971, Lancia produced their ‘2000’ models, offered as a saloon or coupe. Inheriting much of its design from the Flavia, the 2000 Saloon was equipped with a (flat) four cylinder 1991cc engine, front-wheel drive, disc brakes and independent suspension; the most notable differences from its predecessor were subtle updates to the design of the model’s front and rear. Pitched at the higher-end of the market, the 2000 boasted a range of quality finishes, and was widely considered to be Lancia’s last great motor car. By the end of production in 1974, a little over 14300 units were manufactured; as a result, these are a very rare motor car on UK roads today.
With just five owners from new, and with documented ownership from 1986, this ‘2000 Berlina’ is in solid, usable condition. After being in dry storage from 2011 until 2015, the Lancia 2000 was recommissioned in May of last year by a respected marque enthusiast, who has covered some 800 miles in the motor car since. Work in 2015 included the reconditioning of the front brake calipers (the rear calipers were attended to in around 2000) and the brake master cylinder, the removal and lubrication of seized rear brake drums / discs, and the replacement of all brake pipes (bar one small and serviceable centre one) and fuel lines (with copper rather than steel). The cylinder heads were removed and the valves, seats and heads re-faced, and the pistons were thoroughly checked and all components were found to be in good order.  The carburettor second choke was un-seized and the N/S CVJ boot and both upper suspension swivel rubber gaiters were replaced. Some welding was carried out to the inner sill panels to MOT standard. We understand that a complete replacement interior was fitted approximately thirty years ago and remains in good condition; the cappings and instrumentation are all described as being good and in working order. Cosmetically, the Lancia would benefit from some attention to the bodywork, but we are informed that it drives well and with some fettling, should prove to be an appealing Italian classic.
The history file contains the V5C registration certificate, a V5 document and a driver’s handbook.  Some spare parts will be included in the sale, such as a cylinder block, carburettor and distributor.
