1968 VANDEN PLAS 1300 PRINCESS
The Vanden Plas 1100/1300 was introduced in 1963, it was only available as a four door, and immediately proved a success, attracting drivers who were looking for a small but roomy luxurious saloon. The car, mechanically, was exactly the same as all the other 1100 models produced by BMC. Customers found the car a little underpowered, so in 1967 a 1275cc engine became available as an option, as did an automatic gearbox. The 1100 engine was dropped in 1968, but the by then Mk II 1300, with a more powerful twin-carburettor engine, was offered until 1974.
The vendor has owned this Vanden Plas 1300 since 2013 and the V5 is showing there have been 6 registered owners but due to ill health, now needs a new home.
The car is very original, and has a tow-bar fitted enabling the use of a small camping trailer. There is bubbling a couple of inches above the bottom of the doors but otherwise the exterior is in good condition. New tyres were fitted and it is equipped with a modern radio with USB, to play sixties music at shows.
Mechanically sound apart from a non-working petrol gauge, the car also comes with a good range of spare parts and there were no advisories on the MOT.
Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
GUIDE PRICE: £1,500 TO £3,000
