Further Info:
Manufacture of the Cabriolet version of BMW's much vaunted 2002 model was outsourced to Karosserie Baur of Stuttgart. The design featured a fixed roll-over bar between the B pillars, ahead of which was a lift-out panel and behind which was a conventional fold-down hood; ie it is what's generally known as a Targa top but that moniker had already been trademarked by Porsche - hence the Cabriolet tag. This rare `round tail light' example was reputedly the 11th produced and served as the UK press car. It was later restored in the UK before becoming part of a private collection and remaining largely unused for many years. Wearing its original registration number - `PYW 5L' - and still resplendent in Colorado Orange teamed with a Black vinyl/cloth interior, the BMW is currently considered by the vendor to have `very good' bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, four-cylinder engine and four-speed mnual gearbox. The odometer displays an unwarranted but credible 65,325 miles.
