With less than three years between conception and display the Virage
was truly a miracle car for AML. In 1986 AML had a two-door Lagonda
development car on the road and had also announced a design competition
for budding Aston Martin designers. The winners, Ken Greenley and John
Heffernan, had created a large, modern GT - with an evolutionary link
straight back to the DB4. Reeves Callaway in the US reworked the 5.3
litre V8 engine with four valves per cylinder, Weber fuel injection, a
clean exhaust and an output of 330 bhp. The name 'Virage', the French
word for 'corner', was chosen by AML Chairman Victor Gauntlett from a
list of suggestions submitted by owners and enthusiasts.Registration Number: H133 HKN

By the time production got fully underway in 1989 demand was strong as this was the first new Aston Martin for almost 20 years. But recession gripped the world in the early parts of the 1990's; big, expensive cars such as the Virage had fallen out of favour and production neared 400 before the axe fell in 1994. The last few cars were designated as a limited edition V8 coupe in an effort to find just a few more customers.
The Virage has a look of menace, even when stationary. It set new standards in speed and comfort and at the time you would not find another car of this capability with such bespoke luxury. This impression does not let up as you turn the ignition key and the classic hand crafted 5.3 litre V8 erupts into life.
Finished in red with a matching Magnolia Connolly leather hide, not only is this a one registered owner from new but it boasts a total mileage of only 982 miles from new. It was delivered new to Sir John Hall, property developer in North East England and former owner of Newcastle United Football Club and was first registered on 24th April 1991 having been purchased from Reg Vardy Aston Martin in Houghton le Spring, County Durham.
Accompanying the car is a letter from Sir John Hall confirming the mileage is genuine and indeed below 1,000 miles from new, six old MoT certificates with the first MoT dating to May 1994 with 919 miles recorded along with service stamps showing a service on the 11th September 1992 with 802 miles and a service on the 22nd November 2013 showing 982 miles at Stratstone Aston Martin in Cheshire totalling over £1,200.
All original handbooks, service books are supplied along with the V5 document showing one owner and a current MoT certificate valid until September. Over the last 24 years the car has been stored in ideal conditions and as one would expect with such low mileage, it is described as being in excellent condition in every respect.
