1970 AERMACCHI 433 CM3 ALA D'ORO REPLICA
Frame no. 250882
Engine no. 190688.
This Ala
d'Oro replica has been constructed around a restored roadster frame
acquired from an ex-racer from Santo Stefano Ticino near Milan (the VIN
plate is still in place). The fork, yokes and brakes are original
Ceriani, and the shock absorbers are original Girling. All nuts and
bolts are correct and the rev counter is an original period Veglia. The
engine incorporates 350 Aermacchi crankcases, upgraded with an
additional ball bearing as in the original Ala d'Oro, which have been
modified to accept an 82mm bore cylinder. Lightened and balanced, the
350 Ala D'Oro crankshaft has a stroke of 82mm, giving the engine a
capacity of approximately 433cc. The camshaft, forged connecting rod,
magnesium engine side cover and dry clutch are all Ala d'Oro components.
Other noteworthy features include twin-plug ignition, a
Dell'Orto SS42 carburettor and an up-rated gearbox. The latter's
intermediate gears are stronger components from an AMF Harley-Davidson
350SS, necessitated by the enlarged engine's increased power. First and
fifth gears are original. Completed in the 2011, this beautiful Ala
D'Oro replica has had only two 'shakedown' outings and has never been
ridden on a racetrack.
